Notes: Snake Eyes initially wore his 1982 outfit, in dark blue with a purple visor and pockets, and no gloves. In The Revenge of Cobra, Cobra's Creatures, and Jungle Trap he wore a dark blue version of his 1985 outfit. Afterward the uniform was dark grey, with jet black straps and belt. His 1989 outfit appeared in an ad for the Arctic Blast. The DiC series featured his 1991 outfit, and one late commercial briefly portrayed Snake Eyes's 1993 outfit with a grey vest over it. The uniform seen in Spy Troops: The Movie most closely resembled his last 2002 version, with numerous differences. This was upgraded to his first 2004 outfit for Valor vs. Venom, though retaining the previous film's visor. Ninja Battles used a visor based on the 1985 figure. None of the animated series explained the nature of Snake Eyes's silence or why he wore a mask, though his face was largely visible in the flashback portion of Ninja Battles. The Sunbow series was unique in giving Snake Eyes no interaction at all with Storm Shadow.

"What can you say about a good guy who goes bump in the night? The man is the baddest dude in the valley. He scares pit bulls! He should wear a sign on his chest that says, 'Don't mess, PERIOD!' The bad guys would like to see him declared illegal under the Geneva Convention. On the other hand, he is kind to small animals..."

- torso: Snake Eyes (91, 04/V, 05/VI)

| SNAKE EYES honed his combat skills as a Long Range Recon Patrol trooper in Southeast Asia and perfected his mystical martial arts techniques with the same Ninja clan that produced STORM SHADOW. Although he is as equally adept with submachine guns as he is with swords, Snake Eyes is most dangerous and unpredictable when he's armed and cornered. When HAWK went to Snake Eyes' cabin to recruit him for duty with G.I. Joe, the silent Ninja was out hunting rabbits - bare handed!
"He's generally regarded as the primo baddest dude of all the G.I. Joes. When we need somebody to sneak up on a class A, major bad guy and pop a can of butt-kick on him, Snake Eyes is the man for the job. The bad guy could be in a fortress on top of a sheer cliff, but that wouldn't bother ol' Snake Eyes none! He'd just whip out his handy grappling hook missile and use it to shimmy his way up the cliff face until he cornered the culprit, threw him down, and took his name!"
| Toy Notes: Hunting rabbits? The 1989 filecard said he was kind to small animals... Item #6592. The 1991 Wave 2 assortment did not appear in Hasbro's insert catalogs.

| Accessories: black Uzi (82 Snake Eyes's), black rifle (84 Baroness's), long black sword (84 Storm Shadow's), black backpack (86 Hawk's), black figure stand (common).
| Snake-Eyes' life has been one of both military discipline and horrific tragedy. He served in Southeast Asia in a Long-Range Recon Patrol. Upon returning home, he learned that his parents and sister had been fatally wounded on their way to the airport to meet him. Subsequently, Snake-Eyes joined the ninja clan which was Storm Shadow's family. This ended in disaster when the head of the family, known as the Hard Master, was assassinated. Storm Shadow was the primary suspect. Later, Snake-Eyes would retreat to a mountain cabin in the High Sierras, turning his back on the world, with only a wolf named Timber as his companion. When the G.I. Joes were being formed, Stalker and Hawk brought him back to be part of the team. In an early Joe mission, Snake-Eyes was involved in a mid-air helicopter collision that left his face horribly scarred. He was virtually unable to speak. Yet, through all of this, Snake-Eyes never abandoned his sense of duty or discipline. He remains, to this day, the ultimate soldier, and a valued member of the G.I. Joe Team.
From Snake-Eyes' Journal: "Do I have any regrets about choosing the life of a soldier? None. It has been my continuing privilege to serve in defense of this country and for all it stands [for], with men and women upon whom I can depend utterly. They are the finest this country has to offer. Being a soldier isn't so much a job - it is a trust."
| Toy Notes: Carded in a Toys 'R Us-exclusive Commando Team three-pack with Lady Jaye and Storm Shadow. Item #28015. Card art and pre-production photos show that this figure was intended to be a recolor of the 1985 version and would have included Timber. | Snake-Eyes is the perfect weapon, a man of total discipline who honed his combat skills with a Long Range Recon Patrol in Southeast Asia. The squad included Stalker and Storm Shadow, who would later become members of G.I. Joe. His martial arts skills stem from training with the Arashikage ninja clan (relatives of Storm Shadow). Following a horrific accident, his face was scarred and his vocal cords damaged, taking away his ability to speak. Snake-Eyes is a total mystery; almost all that is known about him is that he is the best at whatever he does - #1 on the G.I. Joe "Best of the Best" list. He is proficient with all known NATO weapons and explosives, as well as edged weaponry. Many of his missions are Top Secret and so highly covert that knowledge of their existence is not officially recognized. After many years of highly successful operations, the government decided that Snake-Eyes and the G.I. Joe team had served their purpose, and disbanded the operation. With his partner Scarlett, Snake-Eyes retired to his mountain cabin in the High Sierras. He used the time to find inner peace; however, watching the ills of society from his mountain retreat, he found himself unable to sit back and remain idle. When the word was given that the G.I. Joe team was re-organizing its original members, Snake-Eyes seized the chance to return to duty and once again make a difference.
After the team's first encounter with COBRA forces, they found a suitable location and in the tradition of the men and women who served their country before them, raised the flag in their honor, and declared - STARS and STRIPES FOREVER!
From General Hawk's Files: "I could say so much about this man, but I can't - it's CLASSIFIED. He is the best I have ever seen, no one can compare. A skilled martial artist and warrior, Snake-Eyes is like a pit bull, nice to family and friends, but fierce to all those that cross his path on the wrong side. I do all I can to keep him leashed. Let him go and he's sure to tear up more than the enemy's yard. I've seen him take out an enemy squad with nothing but a metal spoon. If that doesn't intimidate you, I don't know what would. We're glad he's on our side."
"Actions speak louder than words."
| Toy Notes: Boxed in a Toys 'R Us-exclusive set with the Stars and Stripes Forever flag base, Sgt. Zap, Stalker, Scarlett, Grunt, Rock 'n Roll, Breaker, and Short-Fuse. Item #28020.

Back when he was a regular soldier in the military, SNAKE EYES served with STORM SHADOW and SGT. STALKER, long before the G.I. JOE Team and the COBRA organization came into their lives. While conducting long-range recon, SNAKE EYES carried two things with him at all times: his M60 machine gun and a battered picture of his twin sister. He never spoke much, remaining silent even when STORM SHADOW offered him a place in the "family business." On one patrol, SNAKE EYES was seriously wounded in an attack, and STORM SHADOW risked his own life to run back through heavy weapons fire to save him. Now, every time SNAKE EYES faces his enemy in combat, he cannot forget that this is the same person who once was his friend.

| SNAKE EYES has dueled - and defeated - the most fearsome ninjas alive, so his courage is without question. Yet one of his bravest acts is when he exposes himself to a deadly radioactive cloud so that the team can escape from attacking COBRA forces. SNAKE EYES is trapped in the Arctic cave with the poisonous gas until accidentally freed by COBRA. He struggles through a blizzard, trying to return to headquarters with the rare crystals urgently needed for the M.A.S.S. DEVICE machine. During that grim march, he finds a wolf caught in a trap and sets it free; the grateful animal becomes the ninja's loyal companion and brave comrade from that moment on.
DUKE says: "He's a complete mystery in many ways, but one thing we all know for sure: you can always count on SNAKE EYES to watch your back."
| Toy Notes: Boxed with Cobra Trooper, Baroness, Sgt. Stalker, M.A.S.S. Device console, and The M.A.S.S. Device DVD. Item #32750.

| SNAKE EYES was an enlisted soldier in the military and served with STORM SHADOW. During one mission, SNAKE EYES was severely wounded when his Long Range Recon Patrol unit got into a firefight with the enemy. He owes his life to STORM SHADOW, who dodged enemy fire to rescue his fellow soldier. SNAKE EYES left the service to study mystic martial arts with the ARASHIKAGE clan, which also trained STORM SHADOW. SNAKE EYES became the star pupil of the HARD MASTER and received the clan's hexagram tattoo upon completing his training.
"SNAKE EYES was tempered on the anvil of life until he was as dangerous as a razor-edged sword flailing in the dark. The G.I. JOE team sheathed that sword and harnessed its deadly energy, but even they sometimes forget that a blade still retains its cutting edge within the safety of its scabbard."

| Although he is a top-notch commando who completed Advanced Infantry Training and Ranger School, SNAKE EYES is better known for his martial arts skills, which have made him one of the two most accomplished - and deadliest - ninja masters in the world. His past is a labyrinth of heroism, tragedy, and mystery. When he joined the G.I. JOE team, he brought not only his military and ninja skills but also his expertise in mountaineering, underwater demolitions, and extreme environment survival. Silenced by a disfiguring helicopter accident, he nevertheless speaks volumes with actions that are always determined and courageous no matter the threat or the odds. During one mission, he saved the life of a wolf that became his loyal companion and brave comrade from that moment on.
"The man is a total mystery, but he's real good at his job, heck, he's the best."
