Ripper

(aka Dreadnok Ripper)

File Name: Harry Nod of Grim Cape, Tasmania, Australia.
Notes: Cape Grim is the northwest point of Tasmania (the large island south of the Australian mainland). The nearest important town is Smithton. The original Dreadnoks' names are a play on the proverbial Tom, Dick, and Harry, and on the Dutch Lullaby fishermen Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

There are devils in Tasmania and Ripper is probably the meanest of them all. Was expelled from nursery school for extorting candy from his schoolmates and spent most of his adult life in various correctional institutions. He is a professional criminal motivated by greed and a malignant dislike for the niceties of civilization - except for motorcycles.
Specialty and M.O.: Edged weapons and cutting tools. Is known throughout the swamps for using his blade like a cross between a fireman's axe and a can opener to unlock gates and crack safes.
Variations: Early versions of the filecard do not have the closing phrase "except for motorcycles."
Toy Notes: Item #6434. Ripper's swivel-head construction points to a 1984 design. He was also introduced in the cartoon and comics in 1984. Numerically Ripper is the first figure to include one of the rubber accessory hoses common throughout the G.I. Joe line. Airtight, Barbecue, and Tele-Viper also came with such a hose in the same assortment.

Anti-social and proud of it, DREADNOK RIPPER has been taking out his anger on the world since he was expelled from nursery school for bribery and aggravated assault. Black-listed from every outlaw biker gang in his native Tasmania for excessive nastiness and inadequate personal hygiene, he sought out ZARTAN at his secret swamp hide-out and joined the DREADNOKS, who overlook his bad points since he pays his dues on time and doesn't spend a lot of time in the bathroom. DREADNOK RIPPER hates everything and everybody. He likes nothing better than ripping things to shreds with crude sharp-edged tools. After he tears things apart, he enjoys jumping up and down on top of the pieces while wearing his big hob-nailed engineer boots and shouting naughty verses at the top of his lungs. DUKE is way up there at the top of his hate-list simply for being brave, honest, and well-groomed. "It wouldn't hurt him to skip shaving once in a while, would it?"
"It ain't true that I hates everything. That's a load o' rubbish. I likes grape soda and chocolate-covered donuts, don't I?"
Toy Notes: Carded in a two-pack with Duke. Item #57485.

Being thrown out of the nastiest biker gangs in Tasmania made DREADNOK RIPPER's entrance into the gang an easy decision. He has a penchant for makeshift, oversized, and occasionally unorthodox edged weapons. His appetite for destruction is second only to his unbelievable greed. He has secretly amassed a considerable amount of wealth through side businesses, both legitimate and illicit. He also has saved a small fortune by not "wasting" money on hygiene products, but the rest of the Dreadnoks have not seemed to notice.
Unlike most others in the gang, DREADNOK RIPPER has no aspirations of taking over the gang. He is content to be either a grunt or temporary field leader as the situation demands, as long as he gets paid on time. He is also smarter than he looks or acts, having learned basic number crunching from COBRA's former accountant. Even the occasional stints in prison did not bother him. He just passed the time by mentally calculating the interest he was earning.
"Lucky for me that silly new logo is growing on the other Dreadnoks - I copyrighted it!"
Toy Notes: Boxed in a convention-exclusive set with Beachhead, Hardtop, Sgt. Mutt, Dreadnok Buzzer, Dreadhead Cletus, Dreadhead Otis, Dreadnok Road Pig, Zarana, Dreadhead Billy-Bob, Joe-Bob, Dreadnok Crusher, Dreadnok Demolishor, Dreadhead Roscoe, and Dreadnok Vance.

DREADNOK RIPPER has led a life of delinquency since nursery school, where he stole candy from his schoolmates. From there, he just kept expanding the scope of his criminal activities, paying the price many times with stints in various correctional institutions. He is motivated by greed, a dislike for civilized behavior, and the pure delight of destroying something with cutting tools and edged weapons, of which he has gathered a substantial collections.
