The Spy Who Rooked Me

16th of 30 episodes in Sunbow season 2. Written by Susan K. Williams. First aired October 13, 1986.

Previous episode: Iceberg Goes South
Next episode: Grey Hairs and Growing Pains

Dr. Mindbender procures a deadly nerve gas, but it is immediately seized by secret agent Matthew Burke. He visits the Joes on training maneuvers, and a small team is assigned to deliver the toxin to the Rocky Mountain Chemical Weapons Arsenal for safe keeping. In disguise, Zarana overhears and informs Cobra of the mission. The Dreadnoks attack the Joes on a canyon trail, but Matthew Burke arrives and rescues them. The team camps out in a cave, but the next day Burke and the chemical are both gone.

The Joes steal a Stun and trace Burke to a motel. Behind the motel's facade they find a Cobra base. Cobra leaves the Joes tied up, and Burke quickly frees them. They attack Cobra's Night Ravens, and Burke rams his car into Mindbender's craft just as Joe reinforcements show up. Mindbender tosses the chemical at the Joes and runs, whereupon Burke reveals the vial is just a decoy. The real chemical was safely delivered the previous day. Later, the TV news gives Burke credit for "single-handedly" protecting the chemical.
