Sneaking around Cobra Island, Dial-Tone and Low-Light eavesdrop on Cobra's plans to "recruit" Dr. Jeremy Penser to help develop a new weapon. Sgt. Slaughter volunteers himself and Sci-Fi to attend the science fiction convention where the kidnapping is to take place. Zarana spots the two Joes, and the Dreadnoks hold them at bay, while Dr. Penser joins Dr. Mindbender on a promise to cure his disability.
Penser's brother Timothy insists on joining the Joes in trying to retrieve the scientist. At Mindbender's secret weapons lab, the Joes fail to convince Penser to leave, but he sics the Dreadnoks on them, and they are chased into the weapon's target area. Penser refuses to endanger his brother and instead sets the weapon to overload. Slaughter steals a helicopter, allowing Sci-Fi and Timothy to rescue Dr. Penser before the lab explodes.
