In India, a team of Joes locates Dr. Shakur, a scientist whose Vulcan Machine can harness the power of molten lava. Shakur is kidnapped by Cobra, but Recondo is able to deduce that Cobra has taken over an ancient temple three days away. The Joes are shot down over the jungle, where Cobra has laid many booby traps in their path. Dr. Shakur works hypnotized by a slave crown as the Joes work their way through the various traps.
The Joes eventually happen across a Water Moccasin, which they force Copperhead to drive to the temple with them aboard. Disguised as Cobra troopers, the Joes infiltrate Cobra's base and destroy the newly built Vulcan Machine just as it is activated. The Joes escape with Dr. Shakur as lava floods the temple.
