Sgt. Slaughter flies a Tomahawk over the desert, leading Ambush, Scoop, and Dusty & Sandstorm on a video recon mission targeting some elite Range-Vipers. While other Joes nearby await word from the team, the Tomahawk crashes and Scoop is left with a broken ankle. The Range-Vipers attack Sarge's team as Slaughter and Dusty treat Scoop's injury. While holding off Cobra, Ambush recognizes one of the Range-Vipers as his childhood friend Evy, who was always able to find him.
A Joe search team spots Sarge and the others pin down, and the General is dispatched for support. Ambush confronts Evy, but she has firmly chosen her side of the conflict. As Joe reinforcements arrive, Destro intervenes to lead a counterstrike. Cobra is finally driven away when Hawk uses his jet pack to sight targets for the General. Sarge's team is brought back along with two Range-Viper prisoners, but Evy retreats with Cobra's forces.
