Notes: Sunbow's Eels wore their 1985 outfit, but their breath masks did not attach to their backpacks; instead, two short, segmented knobs protruded from the mask. The Baroness wore an Eel uniform in Eau de Cobra, while working alongside Cobra Divers. In the DiC series, an animation model was evidently not ready, probably because Eels were part of the second wave of 1992 figures, which did not otherwise appear in the series. The Sludge-Viper model was used instead, with the only difference being knee-high red boots with flippers.

Figure Releases

Versions: 1. 1985
2. 1992
3. 1993 (Battle Corps)
4. 2008 (post-25th Wave 11)

Version 1: spring 1985 regular carded figure assortment
Fig. #0067: Cobra FrogmanMOS 1: Underwater Demolitions
MOS 2: Marine Engineering
  • head: Eel (85)
  • arms: Eel (85)
  • torso: Eel (85)

Eels are the underwater demolitions specialists of the COBRA legions. They man and operate the COBRA marine outposts disguised as off-shore drilling rigs and augment the crews of larger COBRA naval vessels.
Eels undergo a rigorous two-part training program in the Caribbean and in the frigid dark depths of the North Atlantic. Their training regiment includes marine structural engineering, explosive ordnance, underwater fighting techniques and marine geology.
Variations: The knife on Eel's ankle was painted on some figures and not on others.
Toy Notes: Item #6448.
Version 2: summer 1992 Wave 2 carded figure assortment
Fig. #0338: Underwater Demolitions Specialist
  • head: Eel (92, 93)
  • arms: Eel (92, 93)
  • torso: Eel (92, 93)
  • waist: Eel (92, 93)
  • legs: Eel (92, 93)

EELS are proficient with sophisticated electronic detection gear, the latest in plastic explosives and state-of-the-art, closed circuit self-contained breathing systems. All of this, along with their rigorous underwater training, has made them the most feared creatures to ever swim the sea. If you thought a Great White shark was a fear machine with fins, just picture one equipped with plastic explosives and a spear gun! No ship is safe (not even the D.E.F. Shark DF-1!) when COBRA COMMANDER sends these slimy sea saboteurs on a mission. They just love to string underwater mines in shipping lanes, then wait for the fireworks to send ships down to the bottom, permanently.
Motto: "We're the soggy saboteurs of the sea, we're Cobra Eels, we're wet and wild!"
Toy Notes: Item #6744. In the 1992 insert catalog, concept art appears instead of the actual figure. The Shark DF-1 is an apparent reference to the Shark 9000 released for the Battle Corps the following year.
