The Viper Is Coming

26th of 55 episodes in Sunbow season 1. Written by David Carren. First aired October 24, 1985.

Previous episode: The Greenhouse Effect
Next episode: The Funhouse

Barbecue hosts a G.I. Joe party at his home, a remodeled firehouse. The party is interrupted by an odd phone call from a man calling himself The Viper, giving the numbers 5-75. Surmising this to be a tip-off to a Cobra attack at those coordinates, the Joes investigate in Antarctica and discover a hidden Cobra R&R center. After a battle, they round up the Cobras at the center as prisoners and return. A second phone call mentioning a "west corner" leads them to defend the graduation ceremonies at West Point. They are thus able to fend off a surprise attack and kidnapping attempt led by Maj. Bludd.

The Joes wait at Barbecue's home for The Viper's next phone call, which simply says, "top floor first." The team gathers around Enterprise Tower, where inside Cobra leaders are accusing one another of being the mysterious traitor. The Joes win yet another battle here and return to Barbecue's home, where a final call announces The Viper's arrival at noon the next day. When the time arrives, The Viper is revealed to be a window wiper with a European accent who has merely been advertising his services.
