Rendezvous in the City of the Dead

Polly's recitation of a password gets Shipwreck and Snake-Eyes past Cobra's security checkpoint, where they discover a factory building cubes for the Pyramid of Darkness. As they try to maintain their questionable cover, the Joes from Headquarters have relocated to the U.S.S. Flagg. A homing device planted by Shipwreck allows the Joes to follow the first cube to the volcanic Devil's Playground in South America. Meanwhile on Space Station Delta, Dusty uses a ruse to reach Duke and get a glimpse of Cobra's plans. He then installs a device that allows the Joes on Earth to intercept Cobra's transmissions to the station.

The Joes on the Flagg thereby learn of Cobra's next two cube locations. Roadblock leads a team to the City of the Dead and dispatches another by sea to the Mountain of Glass. Meanwhile, Shipwreck and Snake-Eyes steal a laser disc with the schematics of the cubes and escape through a mine, only to emerge in the worst part of Enterprise City. At the Devil's Playground, Flint and Lady Jaye's battle reaches a stalemate as Destro works to plant the first cube there, and a botched attack leaves the two Joes drowning in a sea of bubbling pink goo.

  • The City of the Dead actually appears in the next episode, despite the subtitle of this one.
  • This episode is a rare case in which every individual human character besides Snake Eyes has a speaking role.

  • The 2008 release of the DVD with related figures (Quick Kick, Snake Eyes, Maj. Bludd, and Cobra Commander) included a small purple block meant to represent a control cube.
