Keyboard Warriors

16th of 20 episodes in DiC season 2. Written by Misty Taggart. First aired November 12, 1991.

Previous episode: Shadow of a Doubt
Next episode: Cobra World

In the basement of a castle-like building in an otherwise American suburb, Cobra's leaders (in disguise) prepare to activate a new computer system, A.S.P., to oversee their global operations. They are assisted by a well-meaning engineer, whose son Kevin and his friend Bobby into the lab to play. They find the computer and activate it, thinking it is a game. Overkill assumes the machine is being run by Destro, while Destro assumes it has been activated by Cobra Commander. When the Commander shows up later, they both assume Metal-Head is toying around. The kids select an attack on G.I. Joe base Alpha Charlie, but Grunt takes the lead in thwarting the attack. Overkill is captured and, controlled by A.S.P., plants a tracking device on Grunt.

Still thinking A.S.P. is a game system, the children assign more Cobra forces to attack Grunt specifically. The Joes bring Overkill to an arctic base where they fend off another attack. Hooking Overkill up to a computer there, they trace the location of A.S.P. When Grunt arrives at the lab, A.S.P. sets itself to self-destruct in order to destroy him, but he rescues the children and gets out in time.
