|Quick Take: About the same enjoyment overall as the first Equestria Girls movie, though the animation quality has come a long way; I believe this is the most beautiful MLP has ever looked. This is a very good story, with a good growing friendship dynamic between Sunset Shimmer and the human Twilight, a reasonably well-developed, not-quite-a-villain antagonist, and a lesson on the right and wrong uses of power, which nicely parallels Starlight Glimmer's dilemmas in the TV series. However, the rest of the Mane Seven are underused, I'm intensely uncomfortable with the Timber Spruce/Twilight Sparkle flirtations, and the songs aren't as strong as in the last two films (though "Embrace the Magic" is a great follow-up to the last year's "Unleash the Magic"). Again, the animation is spectacular, and Rebecca Shoichet as always does a wonderful job with Sunset and singing Twi. But I'll still claim Rainbow Rocks as my favorite film of the series.
