Episode 135: "Buckball Season"

Aired 9/3/2016, written by Jennifer Skelly (her first episode)
Quick Take: Ho hum, sports. Actually, this episode is a fresh and wonderful approach to the old sports story, addressing head-on the very reason I don't care for athletic sports: the competitive play. Like Pinkie, I play games for fun, enjoying a challenge but not caring who wins (perhaps one of the only ways Pinkie and I are at all similar). The talents Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Snails display here are spectacular, and I love watching every bit of their interaction with AJ and Dash as the two aces struggle to understand their friends' perspective. All I could have asked for is more of the same (the ending seems really fast). For some reason, this season stands out above the others in terms of relatability, at least to me personally, and this story's a prime example. It's not as seriously dramatic as Friendship Games or Flight to the Finish, I'd say it gives me about the same level of enjoyment.
